Full Name and Address Block Fields in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013

CRM 2013 has many slick new enhancements, but two of my favorites are the “full name” and “address block” controls. The full name field allows a flyout control which lets you capture “First Name, Middle Name and Last Name’, but doesn’t take up 3 columns worth of space on the form. Once you enter the first, middle and last, it formats the name format based on what you have chosen in “System Settings”, as per previous versions, but this little enhancement saves real-estate on typically crowded forms.

The same control is available for the address block, through a field called “address1_composite” – again, I haven’t found a way to customize this format yet, but it’s a nice touch to save a ton of real-estate on the form. This may pose a problem for custom address blocks, however, and probably won’t work with any custom country, city, state or zipcode fields, which are often used to handle data quality.Nice touch!
